"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." ~Albert Einstein/// Welcome to my journey to self-acceptance, in spite of what my scale might say, what size clothes I wear, or what society (read: human stupidity) might tell me I "should" or "shouldn't" be.

We finally scored our Wii Fit - but I added 3" to my height so I could be merely "Overweight" instead of "Obese"...
I don't have enough curse words in my vocabulary to say how fucked-up that is. (& when the game was urging me to "Set a goal!" I wanted to throw the controller through the screen, but it's my son's toy, too expensive for me to break...)

The thing about Wii? Is that you could just exercise without a screen and an overpriced gaming device.

I found this documentary to be incredibly informative and eye opening.
I've been suffering the effects of this condotion for about 15yrs, since my early teens, but it hasn't really been diagnosed til recently and to finally know that some of the stupid and dangerous things I've done aren't all a product of me, but a condition I have , has helped me to overcome so much and start to rebuild a life I'd almost given up on so many times.
Not to say that I reject responsibility for my actions, but I can now have hope of things getting better. As someone who has long experimented with self medication of various kinds and struggled with the associated problems of addiction, trouble with the law and relationships and a life destroyed, I now have light at the end of the tunnel in the form of medication when needed, support and therapy to help me cope with the crippling effects of this condition.
I can't thank stephen fry enough for helping people to understand this illness and compassionately and intelligently presenting the issues to the general public, who are usually ignorant to this surprisingly common condition.
Watching it was like hearing a discription of my life in many ways.

An old topic, but I just wanted to mention that the max weight on a Wii Fit is 330 pounds, which sucks for me because I'm 340.

But I'll be damned if I'm going to lose 10-15 pounds just to use it....even if it is incredibly awesome.

OK so this WII thingie does sound after all, like something I might enjoy. I've not given it a chance yet, but as you say, it does have its drawbacks if it uses bogus BMI tables.
